2019 Subaru Ascent ReviewThe Subaru Ascent is a large and versatile SUV that can get your whole family and all your cargo around safely. So, what can it do for drivers in Parsippany, Wayne, and Morristown? Paul Miller Subaru finds out and shows you what it has to offer in this 2019 Ascent review.

2019 Ascent Performance

The 2019 Subaru Ascent runs on a powerful 2.4L 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER® engine that gets up to 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This strong engine is able to help you move a trailer or take a boat on your next vacation with its 5,000-pound towing capacity.

To manage this power, you'll have an intelligent Lineartronic® High-Torque Continuously Variable Transmission (HCVT). It provides you with efficient shifting but also lets you personalize your drive with 8-speed manual mode and paddle shifters.

You'll also get great fuel economy in this SUV. With the help of the HCVT, the Subaru Ascent can get up to an EPA-estimated 21 MPG city and 27 MPG highway.

All this sits on a dependable drivetrain with standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Plus, this SUV has a high 8.7-inch ground clearance, so you can confidently drive over uneven roads or take it off-roading.

2019 Ascent Interior Dimensions

The 2019 Subaru Ascent is made to offer enough room for your whole family and all your cargo. There are three rows of seats inside. You'll have a choice between either a second-row bench and seating for eight people, or Captain's chairs and room for seven.

Whatever you decide, everyone can get comfortable thanks to convenient features like 19 cup and bottle holders throughout the interior, and a generous 153.5 cubic feet of passenger space.

2019 Ascent Safety

2019 Subaru Ascent Review With seven standard airbags and lots of driver assistance features, the 2019 Subaru Ascent was built to keep you safe. For starters, on top of front and front side airbags, all three rows of seats are covered by side curtain airbags.

To give you greater awareness, the EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology bundle comes standard. It can prevent accidents before they occur with features like:

  • Pre-Collision Throttle Management
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Departure and Sway Warning with Lane Keep Assist
  • Pre-Collision Braking

You can also be confident that everyone, even your youngest passengers, will be safe. The middle row can be equipped with Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) to help strap small children in more securely.

With these features and the advanced airbag system, the Subaru Ascent has earned a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
