The Subaru Ascent is a midsize SUV that families in Parsippany, Wayne, and Morristown can rely on. It offers safety features and a dependable drivetrain, but which trim has everything else you're looking for? Paul Miller Subaru finds out in this review of the 2020 Subaru Ascent trim levels.
Subaru Ascent
The Ascent is powered by a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that gets up to 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The base trim is capable of towing up to 2,000 pounds. Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard along with the EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology.
On top of delivering a safe and stable drive, the Ascent features room for the whole family with seating for up to eight people. There are comfortable cloth seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, and 19 cup and bottle holders.
Up front, the dashboard is home to a 6.5-inch touchscreen display. You can use it to check behind you using the Rear-Vision Camera or control the infotainment system. It comes with SiriusXM® All Access Radio and lots of smartphone compatibility, including Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™.
Subaru Ascent Premium
The Ascent Premium has the same powertrain as the base trim but can be configured to tow up to 5,000 pounds. It also upgrades the infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability.
The interior now has spill-resistant cloth upholstery. You can also get more comfortable behind the wheel with an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat. Heated front seats also come standard, as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter.
There are also more driver-assistance features, including Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and a Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
Subaru Ascent Limited
Leather seats come standard in the Ascent Limited. The 2nd-row bench seat is also replaced with a pair of captain's chairs and a convenient center aisle. It also adds a 6.3-inch LCD display to the instrument cluster and features six USB charging ports.
This trim makes it more convenient to get going with a Power Rear Gate and Keyless Access with Push-Button Start. During your drive you can relax with a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat and a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger's seat. A heated steering wheel also comes standard, as well as heated 2nd-row seats.
Plus, you'll be able to see around curves and through storms thanks to LED Steering Responsive Headlights and LED fog lights.
Subaru Ascent Touring
A navigation system comes standard in the Ascent Touring. It also upgrades the infotainment system with a Harman Kardon® premium audio system. You can see more of what's around your SUV, too with a 180-degree Front View Monitor, rain-sensing wipers, and a panoramic moonroof.
This trim features chrome door handles and Java Brown leather seats. You'll also find woodgrain accents throughout the interior, plus ventilated front seats.
