The 2021 Subaru Outback protects everyone on board with a structurally sound frame and an advanced airbag system. It comes with eight airbags, including a pair of front airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags, a driver's knee airbag, and a front-passenger seat cushion airbag. While these keep the front safe, the side curtain airbags run the length of the interior.

You can also feel good about keeping your smaller passengers safe. The LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system comes standard in the second row, so small children can be strapped in properly.

Whether your next camping trip takes you down a dirt road or the forecast calls for a wintry mix, the Subaru Outback is prepared to keep you safe and in control. Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is standard on every trim level, along with lots of features that'll improve your crossover's capability.

For example, standard Vehicle Dynamics Control and the Traction Control System work together to help prevent skidding on slippery terrain. Meanwhile, standard X-MODE® enhances the all-wheel drive capabilities on any wheel that starts spinning out.

Plus, the Outback is prepared to climb steep roads and trails. Not only does it feature an 8.7-inch ground clearance, but standard Hill Descent Control helps you come back down at a safe, consistent speed.

Driver-Assistive Technologies

In addition to keeping you in control at all times, the 2021 Subaru Outback is ready to prevent accidents before they occur. EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology is standard on every trim. It gives you more awareness and keeps you safe with the following systems:
