The snow is flying, frost is sparkling in the mornings, and driving becomes more treacherous with every storm. By taking time to prepare your car for winter ahead of time, you can take the worry out of winter for your Outback or Forester. All Subaru vehicles are famous for their all-wheel drive, providing excellent handling in snowy, wet conditions. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn't take other necessary precautions.

The first suggestion we have is to prepare an "emergency box" for your car. This box should be filled with items to help in any emergency situation. We suggest including things like:

  • Road Flares
  • Warm Clothes
  • A Blanket, preferably wool or another heavy, warm material.
  • Sand, for providing traction if you get stuck
  • Extra Ice Scraper
Having these items and more can keep you and your family safe in the event of an emergency.

Prepping your car goes further than just including additional supplies. You should also check everything from your tires to the battery on your Impreza. Checking the Cold-Cranking Amps (CCA) on your battery is an important consideration, as it will give you an indication of how well it performs in freezing weather. Having winter tires on your Subaru offer additional traction and handling in icy, wet weather. Using a winter-specific windshield wiper fluid ensures that you can keep salt and grit from blocking your view of the road.

This may sound like a lot, but we are here to help! Our certified technicians are skilled and will happily evaluate your vehicle and its winter preparedness. We can check the charge on your battery, wiper blades, tire tread and more to ensure you are as prepared as you can be for winter.
