The 2019 Subaru WRX: The Performance Spotlight

When you open the hood of the WRX, you'll discover an engine that's designed to deliver a smooth and balanced performance. The 2019 WRX comes standard with the 2.0-liter turbocharged Subaru BOXER®. This 4-cylinder engine supplies you with up to 268 horsepower along with 258 lb-ft of torque. The WRX is also available with a 2.5-liter engine. This turbocharged 4-cylinder Subaru BOXER® engine is able to generate a maximum of 310 horsepower as well as 290 lb-ft of torque.

For an even more enhanced performance, the Subaru WRX comes standard with the Vehicle Dynamics Control with Active Torque Vectoring. This feature improves the vehicle's already intuitive performance by boosting its cornering abilities in the way that reduces understeer.

Supportive Safety Features

One of the advantages that the 2019 Subaru WRX provides you with is enhanced awareness. An example of this is what you get with the available Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The first part of this feature allows you to change lanes with even more confidence by letting you know when there are vehicles in your blind spots.

The Rear Cross Traffic Alert helps you out when you're backing up by alerting you when objects have crossed into your path. The standard Rear-Vision Camera is also a big help in this regard by giving you a clear picture of the situation directly behind the vehicle.

The Subaru WRX also provides you and all your passengers with an abundance of airbag support. The following airbag system elements all come standard:

  • The Subaru Advanced Frontal Airbag System
  • The Driver's Knee Airbag
  • The Side-Curtain Airbags for the front and rear outboard passengers
  • The Front-Seat Side Pelvis and Torso Airbags

The 2019 Subaru WRX: A Look Inside the Cabin

Next, we'll take a look at the roominess that the 2019 WRX gives you and all your passengers. It has an overall passenger volume of 96.6 cubic feet and has more than enough headroom, legroom, shoulder room, and hip room to go around.

In the front row, there are 39.8 inches of headroom, 43.3 inches of legroom, 55.6 inches of shoulder room, and 52.1 inches of hip room. The backseat occupants have it just as good with 37.1 inches of headroom, 35.4 inches of legroom, 54.2 inches of shoulder room, and 53.1 inches of hip room.
