The Hybrid System in the Crosstrek Hybrid isa 4 cylinder Boxer engine with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission that features an integrated electric motor. The electric motor offers 13.4 horsepower and 48 lb.-ft. of torque while the gasoline engine offers you 148 horsepower and 145 lb.-ft. of torque. The Hybrid battery in the XV Crosstrek Hybrid is a 13.5kW, 100V nickel-metal-hydride and is installed under the rear cargo area. Subaru re-engineered the chassis for the all-new XV Crosstrek Hybrid to handle the added weight of the battery system, offering improved handling, steering, and ride. The Crosstrek Hybrid features integrated starter/generator for auto start/stop function and brake regeneration. The Active Torque Split version of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive sends power to the four wheels at all times and adjusts the torque distribution in response to cornering, acceleration, and road conditions.
