Working in conjunction with other Subaru engineering features such as Vehicle Dynamics Control, the Antilock Braking System, and Electronic Brake-force Distribution, the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system gives you the control, handling and confidence that competitive systems can't match.
The available EyeSight® Driver Assist system monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, and warns you when you're swaying outside your lane. It can even help slow down the car when danger is lurking. Another way Subaru designs vehicles with your safety in mind.
Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), a stability control system, automatically senses steering and braking inputs to help keep the vehicle on the driver's intended path.
The Antilock Braking System (ABS) prevents wheel lock-up and helps maintain driver control. Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) balances braking, while Brake Assist can sense a panic-stop situation and apply full braking force to help stop faster.

New 2014 Legacy Performance Features
The Legacy's 2.5-liter boxer engine delivers 173 horsepower, good low-end torque, and relatively smooth and quiet operation. Matching this engine with the literally seamless CVT automatic will produce the best fuel economy (24/32 mpg city/highway), but the 6-speed manual is a better choice if saving money is a bigger priority. The most refined engine choice for the Legacy is the 3.6-liter 6-cylinder, which offers strong acceleration and passing power, but with a bit less fuel efficiency. Manual-equipped cars feature a viscous coupling center differential that splits torque in a constant 50/50 front-to-rear distribution. Legacys equipped with an automatic transmission use a more sophisticated electronic setup that, on the 3.6R, can even vary the torque split according to need.
